Hello, it’s me again: Project 50 day 1

My progress and thoughts thus far

Hello! Since I just finished Day 1 of project 50, I thought I would update all of you on how it’s going so far. Currently, it is June 22, 2023, so I will finish August 10, 2023. Conveniently enough, my internship ends August 11.

Morning: I unfortunately did not wake up before 8 AM since I was feeling so tired, but I did wake up around 8:25. I do really like the hour morning routine, especially the stretching that I am incorporating into it, since I don’t usually stretch and I’m pretty sore/out of tune with my body. The stretching added a meditation element that I really liked. I do think I am going to transfer the journaling to a digital version on Notion, along with a gratitude journal every morning.

I found that keeping a to-do list in my journal wasn’t good because A) it broke up the structure of my journal and B) I don’t reference my journal that often. It happens that I did actually follow the no-phone thing, which I was surprised about. I did end up watching a video during breakfast, but it had been more than an hour since I woke up. And I also made my bed. Overall, I’m excited to wake up tomorrow! Which I think was the goal.

Gym: I did the same work out as usual, which I’ve been enjoying so far. My current split for anyone wondering:

  • Monday: Chest + Abs
  • Tuesday: Legs + Glutes
  • Wednesday: Shoulders + Triceps (and general arm stuff)
  • Thursday: Back + Biceps
  • Friday: Run
  • Saturday: Active Rest day
  • Sunday: Rest Day

If you’ve seen Vivacious Honey’s workout video, it’s basically that except I dedicate a day to cardio. I regrettably did not stretch after the workout, but I am excited to try a new Yoga video tomorrow morning! I do want to figure out clothes to stretch in, because I was struggling with jeans.

Skill + Reading: The skill I chose today was drawing in pen, while I read about Operating Systems. I enjoyed having time dedicated to both of those things, but it ended up taking my whole night, which is really only about 4-5 hours long anyways. I was distracted during my reading, so in the future I might need to implement a no-phone rule during it. However, I made some sick pen art that I will probably post to this blog. So eh. Could’ve been worse.

Eating: This was meh for me today. We had ice cream at work today, so I ate some of that, and I consumed more carbs than I would’ve liked. I had a poke bowl which I had rice in, and I should’ve had mixed rice and greens. But I did get in some greens and some seaweed, which was good. Dinner was pizza, but it did have mushrooms and spinach, so eh. I’ll definitely be trying to incorporate more spinach into my meals, since it is high in vitamins and stuff that’s good for you. Saving money is making the eating part really hard, but so far so good on not drinking anything besides water.

Recording: I’ve discussed this already, but recording progress in my journal breaks up the mostly stream-of-consciousness. I plan to try to find a way to fit recording I don’t do on this website into my notion template. I’ve been enjoying the process of updating & designing my website and notion, which is good.

That’s mostly it for today! As a recap, the changes I plan to make are to try to stretch in different clothes, keep track of my hobbies, have mixed greens as a side more (which I already do at Panda Express), and to transfer things to Notion. Tomorrow I also plan to wake up before 8, although it is midnight, so we’ll see how that goes. I did notice that despite only getting 7 hours of sleep, I was more alert yesterday. Overall, I feel good about this! Ready to tackle Project 50, day 2.
